Biography

Roz Nathan MA, PGCE

Trained in Wildlife Illustration at Carmarthen, West Wales, Roz worked for many years with British wildlife parks, zoos and charities, including the RSPCA, Whipsnade, Howletts and Port Lympne, providing educational and exhibition material on the zoos’ animals and their behaviour. During research for this work Roz was able to get very close to several species, particularly the gorillas at the John Aspinall zoos, this gave her a special insight into the peaceful nature of this gentle species.

Apes were the focus of the two-year MA course in sequential imagery that Roz studied at Brighton University - working with multimedia slide projection equipment, she created slideshows which explored further our stereotypical attitudes to chimps and gorillas, particularly in captive situations.

Roz has exhibited with the Marwell International Wildlife Art Society at Marwell Zoo and twice with the Society of Wildlife Artists in London.
She is a regular exhibitor in the annual Eastbourne Festival of Arts and Culture.

Roz is a qualified teacher, with over 25 years’ experience of teaching in Further Education, and runs private classes for small groups of students of all ages at Studio 11 in Eastbourne (see Courses).
